His photography has been influenced by his personal journey to “seek” the light within. “What is Essential is Invisible to the Eye,” a valedictorian speech that continues to shape James’ journey. It is here, bathed in spirit, that all the magic happens. James recently retired from FCPS and is focused on graphic design and photography. In 1976 he took his first drawing class at Georgetown under artist extraordinaire Daniel Brush. Brush allowed him to use the camera to draw; light and line became the pursuit on the edge of human form. He continued to refine his craft by taking photography classes with Jerry Lake at George Washington University.
